Wolverines

Captain - Skarn Von Ulfwere

Son of an Albion bar wench and a norse raider. At an early age he found the Wolverines and was accepted into their number, he rose through the ranks eventually becoming Captain.

Skarn reformed the Wolverines and is now the warband's leader. . Skarn is one of the last few original Wolverines to still be active, many others retiring from the mercenary life altogether.

Now with new troops swelling the ranks, Skarn plans to make the Wolverines into a true force to be reckoned with. A force Garlan himself would be proud of.

Skarn has restructured the warband and rewrote the Articles of War to clearly state his intentions for the newest re-incarnation of the Wolverine Free Company.

Sergeant - Uthvas Golt

The dwarf was born in the far north of Albion, son to master weaponsmith Oskar, of the Ungart clan. Like most young dwarves Uthvas left home to earn his fortune and add his own 'legend' into his family's history. Uthvas fought for long years as a mercenary, selling his sword to the highest bidder, honing his skills with the blade.

In time his search for gold and glory led him abroad through many countries, until wounded and separated from his comrades after a long and dreadful battle he wandered for days through Norscan lands, his dwarven constitution the only thing keeping him alive. With his wounds bringing him close to death, Uthvas saw the soft glow of campfire in the near distance. So it was that with the last strength in his body he stumbled into the camp of the Wolverines.

Uthvas is a popular fighter within the Wolverines ranks and has been nick-named the 'Angry Hobbit' by his fellows as a jest, a jest which will probably end now that Uthvas has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Seneschal - Selanthus Euthantoi

Selanthus the elf is skilled in the art of healing, but he is no ordinary healer. Armoured in elven crafted leather and proficient in longbow and staff, he has gained a reputation of being a hardened combat medic. Curing the wounded whilst smiting his enemies.

He is also a member of the Healers Guild being one of their defenders.

Selanthus being one of the better mannered Wolverines, was given the rank of Seneschal, basically making Selanthus the Wolverines diplomat / embassador and when not fighting he can be found brokering agreements with others outside the Wolverine company.

Sangrim

Sangrim has been with the Wolverines for a couple of years and in this time he has established himself as a vital battle tactician, especially during combat. Sangrim has great awareness and because of this is one of only three Wolverine voices you'll hear on the battlefield (the other two being Skarn and Uthvas,) although respectfully Sangrim's voice is the most important as he directs the warband on enemy movements and the needed counters.

Sangrim is the war-bands Armoursmith, when not lopping off heads with his great sword or his glaive he can be found in the forge creating armour and weapons fit for a Wolverine. He is also officially the Lions 'Captain of the Camp', responsible for camp security.

It is widely agreed that when Skarn's leadership of the Wolverines is over in 1109, Sangrim will be their next leader.

Henry Brassicus

Henry is a gifted healer and warrior. He speaks very little so not much is known about him.

He is an honourable and just man, he found himself drawn to the Wolverines, where his superior healing skills have kept many alive where lesser healers wouldn't.

Do not think this completes the man, he is a savage warrior, who happily gives in to the bloodlust when needed.

Henry is one of three Wolverine combat medics, who ensure that their comrades are always in fighting condition.

Fenris Wolfe

Fenris was born on the cold northern steppes, to a tribe almost forgotten by civilisation. He shuns steel armour for skins, pelts and furs. He is a ferocious warrior who relies on agility and his twin axes when hunting.

When in mass melee Fenris prefers is double headed great axe 'Snagga', which is easily capable of cutting down any foolish enough to get within its reach.

Before the Wolverines Fenris was a scout for sale, selling his abilities to the highest bidder. Eventually he came across the Wolverines which he joined and the warband became his 'home'.

His affinity with the forests and trails and his nimble feet set him apart from his comrades (as most preferred heavy steel armour and weapons), Fenris became the warbands 'Pathfinder' and chief scout.

Fenris is very quick and agile and is totally at home rushing through the undergrowth in search of prey.

Rogarth

Rogarth is from Lancashire in Albion, but has travelled to many countries on Erdreja.

He worked as a mercenary with a group called the 'Peace Brigade', a collection of fighters, scouts, and magick users. The 'Peace Brigade' were good, honest men who at some point had lost either family or land to tyrants and tribal warlords. These men decided that never again would they tolerate the cruel or evil in the world and fought for the people rich Lords conveniently forgot.

Rogath stayed with this group for nearly ten years until it split up only because the older members decided to retire.

Rogarth came across the Wolverines in Cornwall while they were working for the Harts, after reading the 'Articles of War' he agreed to join them.

Byton Snowdog

Byton was raised in the great northern glacial wastes. The locals nicknamed him the 'Snowdog'.

Byton is a fierce warrior, he holds well in shield walls and during combat follows orders to the letter.

Byton has fought in many campaigns and on the battlefield he is recognised as a vital link in the Wolverine's shield wall. He always stands steady and true.

Away from the battlefield Byton likes to train the younger lads in combat and swordplay.

Byton has problems when communicating with other people and quite often puts his foot firmly in his mouth. Skarn created the crime of 'Slack-mouth' in response to Byton's verbal outbursts.

Daolyth

There are very few things in the world that are quite as unsettling as the white masked face of Daolyth looming out of the darkness and heading towards you. All the while a strange scratching follows in his wake.

The noise, is his sharpened quill scribbling furiously on parchment. The content of that script can make the hardiest warrior tremble, especially when you notice the excited glint in Daolyth's eye. Eyes that have observed the slaughter of many many beings of many different races ('lesser races, the curious unimportant ones' Daolyth mumbles).

You see Daolyth simply finds slaughter fascinating even more so, when he's stood knee deep in blood with his Wolverine comrades.

Champion - Leonides

Leonides, son of Xenophon hails from the Graecian province of Thessaly. He received the teachings of Ares, the Graecian Ancestor of War from his father.

Leonides became a great warrior, living and breathing warfare and battle strategy.

Eventually he left his homeland to seek out a warband worthy of his skills to honour his ancestor with his battle prowess.

Eventually he came across the Wolverines.

Leonides is the current Wolverine Champion, having bested his peers in combat at the recent Gathering of Nations (1108 AF).

Erik 'Red-mist' Blackthorne

Erik is Sangrim's father. He's a wise, sensible man and in times of peace he is one of the warbands few voices of wisdom.

But....in times of war Erik falls into a 'red mist' frenzy becoming a blood thirsty nutter, who loves nothing better than teaching "those yung uns' a bit o' spect".

Erik recently joined the Wolverines after getting news of the warband from his son.

Erik is respected by all of the Wolverines, as basically we're all scared of him.

Errg

Errg is a very simple lad and has a very limited volcabulary knowing few words. He basically just grunts most of the time. He is an Ogre and the brutish blood that pumps through his veins makes his race obvious for others to distinguish.

His blood kin left him in a cave, abandoning him after the birthing. His ox like constitution keeping him alive for days without food. Luckily for Errg a local hunter found him and decided to care for the boy.

He's a capable lad and very handy in a fight as his 6'4 frame tends to tower over most opponents, he wields duel weapons or two handed weapons in combat, usually twin swords or huge polearms.

'Father' Feno

Feno is adept in both sword and mace but holds greater skills in the divine art of healing.

Feno also sees the 'spiritual health of all the Wolverines to be of high importance, encouraging camp talk on religion and Erdreja's ancestors, earning him the nickname 'Father' Feno.

Feno was friend to Amantutu (r.i.p) as they both came from the same village.

He has been involved in many battles and holds himself well, if seeing a fellow Wolverine wounded he will follow the 'Wolverines first' policy of the warband.

He is respected by all his peers and always eager to take up any mission.

Viruk

Viruk is a warrior from the Viper's land of Teutonia. He's been an outlaw for the better part of four years travelling from place to place that is until he eventually found his way to Norsca.

It wasn't too long before he met the Wolverines who accepted him into their band.

Viruk has been nicknamed  'the scavenger of the North' by his fellow Wolverines as at the end of a battle he's usually to be found searching the dead for anything he deems valuable.

Silas Brassicus

Silas is Henry's son and a very capable warrior.

He is also the Captain's new squire.

Silas uses his weapon skills to abuse all new rookies, he especially enjoys this when they are bigger and older than him.

For the next few years at least he's a little too young to take to the battlefield, much to his frustration.

He can usually be found at the sparring ring in Castle Garlans training yard messing around with Triton.

Triton

Triton is Rogarth's son and until recently he lived in a small hamlet with his mother, but has now moved to Castle Garlan with the rest of the Wolverines.

He joins his father as often as possible whenever the Wolverines are in the field.

Triton is eager to learn and has been getting instruction from his father in local lore and combat. Fenris has been teaching him how to hunt and Selanthus is schooling the lad to read and write.

Triton is a well liked lad and when not messing around with Silas (his partner in crime), he can often be found practising his fighting skills in the practice yard with the older Wolverine youngsters.

Rideon

Rideon is one of only two Incantors in the Wolverines at present (the other being Daolyth), and is an enthusiastic fighter.

He is one of the younger recruits to the Wolverines, originally coming from Albion.

As most of Rideons talents lie in the magick arts, he took to practising with his sword so he'd be good enough when the opportunity to join the warband arose. Two years ago the Wolverines were working in Albion so Rideon took up his sword and left to join them.

He took to the battlefield at the Gathering of Nations (1107 A.F) and held himself well, but has been kept at Castle Garlan during the Gatheering of Nations 1108 to continue his training.

Bimble

Bimble was formerly of the Greenwood Hunters in Albion and since that group has now disbanded, Bimble has decided to join the Wolverines as he has old friends within its ranks, namely Skarn and Henry.

Bimble is a fighter - 100%. In combat he always gets stuck in regardless of the foe.

When not in combat Bimble can usually be found in either the command tent or beer tent swilling down ale.

Bimble is a popular character known throughout the lands of Erdreja and is usually welcome at most watering holes.

Jade Bullstrength

Jade is brave in battle fearing no-one.

It is known that Jade has close ties with a Minotaur from the Jackal lands, and this is from where his name comes, it is widely believed in Wolverine circles that he has some Minotaur in him.

Once a year Jade travels alone to Aegyptus to visit the beast, but when questioned refuses to speak on the subject.

Jade didn't attend the Gathering of Nations 1108, it is believed that he had been in the dry lands visiting his bovine friend instead.

Crippin

Crippin is Rogarth's younger brother he isn't a member of the Wolverines, but he is a good ally. He can be often be found sharing mead in the Wolverines command tent until the early hours. He is a fierce warrior and a member of Albion's Greenwood Hunters.

The werebeast Wolfbagger is Crippins other form, like all were-creatures the moon releases the beast from within Crippin. Wolfbagger or 'Bagger' can often be found lapping up female attention around the drinking halls. When not there, he's usually on the hunt. Luckily Bagger is never encountered within the daylight hours. He's a monster of terror, a real thriller.

Rossler

Rossler was found in Norsca by the Wolverines as a young boy. His village had been destroyed by orcs and the lad had hid inside the animal pens until the green-skins had left. It may have been three days before the Wolverine healer Henry Brassicus found the infant, carnage and bodies greeted the warriors when they entered so they were shocked to find any survivors at all.

With him growing up with the Wolverines, Rossler soon became able with a wide range of weapons. He is a quiet lad, who has an understandable hatred of orc-kind. He isn't old enough yet to take to the battlefield although he has already made his first kill, an orc trader who tried to ply his trade near the group. Rossler rode over it with his horse.
